The Katsina State Government is set to commence the dredging of Musawa Dam to boost irrigation activities and improve water supply in the area.
Governor Dikko Umar Radda disclosed this during a visit to Musawa Local Government Area as part of his campaign tour across the state.
He said work on the dredging project would commence next week to address the water scarcity facing residents of the area.
Earlier, Governor Radda launched an empowerment and scholarship programme sponsored by the member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abdullahi Aliyu.
He disclosed that 1,050 beneficiaries would receive ₦50,000 each, while 400 students would also receive ₦50,000 each as educational support.
The governor further revealed that the federal lawmaker had donated 200 motorcycles to support grassroots mobilisation towards the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections.
Radda urged the people of Musawa to remain grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing four indigenes of the area to key positions, calling on them to reciprocate the gesture by voting for all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Bishir Gambo Saulawa, commended the people of Musawa for turning out in large numbers to attend the campaign rally.
He said the massive turnout demonstrated that the APC remained strong and formidable in the area.
Our correspondent reports that during the visit, Governor Radda also paid courtesy visits to the District Heads of Musawa and Jimkamshi.
The traditional rulers appreciated the Radda administration for executing various development projects and improving security to protect lives and property in their communities.
