National leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Sunday, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.

Kwankwaso, who was accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, met with the late President’s uncle, Mamman Daura, during the visit.

He also paid a separate condolence visit to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the visit, the former Kano governor said he was deeply shocked by the news of the former President’s death, describing him as “an epitome of honesty, trustworthiness, and unwavering dedication to national service.”

Kwankwaso recalled Buhari’s sacrifices, commitment, and hard work in various national assignments, saying they were geared toward improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

He later visited the grave of the late President, where he offered prayers for the repose of his soul.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, also led a delegation of wives of state governors on a condolence visit to the late President’s family in Daura.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs Tinubu described Buhari as “a distinguished son of Nigeria” whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.

She said, “President Buhari was not just a pride to Daura, but to Katsina and the entire country. He was a great ally and friend to my husband.”

She prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.

Other notable figures who visited the family to condole with them include former Senate President Bukola Saraki, representatives of Jaiz Bank, the Emir of Jama’a in Kaduna State, former Minister of Finance, Alhaji Abu Gidado, and the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed.
