Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has congratulated Mrs. Dorcas Gwani, a correspondent with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), on her election as Chairperson of the State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council.

In a congratulatory message signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Gyang Bere, the governor described Gwani’s emergence as a reflection of the confidence her colleagues have placed in her leadership qualities, professional competence, integrity and years of experience in journalism.

Governor Mutfwang noted that her emergence as the second female chairperson of the chapel in several years represents a significant milestone and reflects the growing recognition of women’s contributions to journalism and media leadership.

He expressed confidence that Gwani would bring her experience, knowledge and commitment to bear on her new responsibilities while providing purposeful and inclusive leadership that would advance the interests of chapel members.

The governor also expressed optimism that her tenure would promote professionalism, ethical journalism, responsible reporting and constructive engagement, stressing that the media remains a critical pillar of democracy and an important partner in promoting peace, good governance and sustainable development.

Mutfwang urged the newly elected chairperson to strengthen unity and professional solidarity among members, uphold the integrity and credibility of the journalism profession and the NUJ, and contribute to the growth of the media industry and development of Plateau State.

He wished Gwani and the newly elected executive a successful and impactful tenure, assuring them of his administration’s continued recognition of and respect for the role of the media in promoting accountability, development and the aspirations of the people.
