The Plateau State Governor, Mr Caleb Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security collaboration with the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly the Nigerian Air Force, ahead of the Yuletide season.
Mutfwang gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, at his office in Abuja, where he expressed appreciation for the Air Force’s role in restoring peace and stability in Plateau State.
The governor commended the Air Force for what he described as decisive and impactful operations during some of the most challenging periods in the state, noting that its professionalism and sacrifice had contributed to the relative improvement in security.
While acknowledging that isolated attacks by bandits and terrorists still occur in some rural communities, Mutfwang said enhanced synergy between air and ground troops, especially in intelligence sharing and airspace management, would help prevent a recurrence of past incidents.
He added that Plateau State often experiences heightened security challenges during periods such as the onset of the rainy season, harvest time and festive celebrations, stressing the need for proactive and coordinated measures to protect lives and livelihoods.
Responding, the Chief of Air Staff assured the governor of the Air Force’s continued commitment to securing Plateau State, noting that the service would intensify collaboration with other security agencies to safeguard communities.
Aneke also thanked the Plateau State Government for providing an enabling environment for the conduct of Air Force operations.
As part of his engagements in Abuja, Mutfwang also paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to further strengthen inter-agency security cooperation.
The governor also visited the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, to discuss efforts aimed at boosting livestock production, enhancing food security and promoting economic self-reliance in Plateau State.
