The Northwest zonal representative in the Nigerian Basketball Federation, NBBF, Yusuf Sirajo, has approved the appointment of Gambo Musa from Jigawa state to serve as zonal director of the technical committee aimed at promoting and developing the game across the zone.
In the appointment letter signed by Surajo and made available to newsmen it said that the appointment is based on merit and his commitment as well as loyalty to the federation.
The letter reads: “on behalf of the federation…, l am pleased to formally invite you to serve as the technical director of the Northwest representative committee for the development of basketball in the Northwest region.
”The committee has been established to provide strategies, guidance, and support for basketball development, talent identification, coaching and officiating capacity building grassroot competitions and stakeholders engagements across the region. We believe your appointment will add more value and apportunity to the younger generations in the zone.”
While congratulating Musa over the appointment, the letter called on the entire stakeholders to work collectively with the new director in order to actualise the set objectives.
The letter, however, congratulated the new NBBF President, Dr Abdullahi Mustapha DAM over his victory in the just concluded elections, assuring that all the Northwest stakeholders would do everything possible to ensure growth of basketball in the region.
It would be recalled that Musa is a prominent Nigerian basketball referee, coach, and FIBA-badged/verified international official.
