Tragedy struck as Chairman of Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC Fiidi Ward was reportedly killed by unknown assalaints in early hours of Wednesday in Makurdi, Benue capital.
The victim identified as Igbu Terhemen àccording to sources left home fateful Tuesday to watch local football match at Kanshio settlement part of the state capital and did not returned home.
The victim Family Members and friends worried by his prolong absence embarked on thorough searched and was found unconscious within the premises Of NNPC Depot along 0turkpo Road on Wednesday at about 2am in the State Capital.
Family source who preferred to remained anonymous disclosed that when Terhemen was found his body were seen with injuries and suspected May have been beaten with dangerous substance.
According to him, he was allegedly taken for medical attention unfortunately died in the process of Treatment.
The NDC Party hierarchy strongly expressed rude shocked over the sudden demised of Fiidi Ward,s Chairman calling relevant security agencies to unravel what led to his death and fish out the perpetrators and brought them to face the wrath of the Law.
In his Reaction State Chairman of the party in Benue State, Hon 0hini 0jeba enjoined the Law enforcement agents to urgently wade into this heinous act and those involved must be brought to face the music, saying the deceased contributed immensely towards enhancng massive development in the party.
When Contacted, Benue State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Peter Aondongu said the command was yet to receive a report on the incident.
The circumstances surrounding Terhemen’s death remain unclear, and the allegations about how he was attacked have not been independently established.
