The new Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 10, Ahmed Musa, has assumed duty, promising to keep his doors open to members of the public on all police-related matters.

AIG Musa, who assumed duty on Monday, succeeds AIG Augustine G. Grimah, who recently retired from service.

The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdallah Faruk Ambursa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the statement, Musa, an indigene of Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Maiduguri.

He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on June 10, 1994, as a member of Course 18. He has since built a career spanning more than three decades in crime management, investigation, intelligence, operations and administration.

Before his posting to Zone 10, Musa served as AIG in charge of Community Policing at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, and Commissioner of Police in charge of Community Safety and Crime Prevention in the Department of Operations, among other strategic positions.

He also undertook an international assignment with the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The statement noted that Musa had received numerous awards and commendations in recognition of his professionalism and meritorious service.

It added that he had attended several courses in Nigeria and abroad, including the Advanced Detective Course, Police Mobile Force Training Course in Gwoza, Tactical Leadership Course at the Police Staff College in Jos, and a Community Policing Course on Strategic Planning and Intelligence-Led Policing.

He also participated in courses on Preventing Attacks on Soft Targets and Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasures organised by the United States Embassy.

In his maiden address to officers and men under his command, Musa urged them to uphold discipline, professionalism and dedication to duty.

He also called on members of the public to continue supporting the police by providing credible and actionable information to assist in crime prevention and detection.

The new AIG reaffirmed his commitment to intensifying the fight against all forms of violent crime across Zone 10, which comprises Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

He further pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Armed Forces, sister security agencies and other critical stakeholders to sustain peace and ensure a safer environment throughout the zone.
