The Nigerian Medical Assistant (NMA) has called on the Kano state government to fulfil the implementation of the agreement with doctors aimed at improving the health sector in the state.
The chairman of the Kano state chapter of the NMA, Dr Abdulrahman Ali, made the call at this year’s Physicians Week briefing held in the state capital.
Dr Ali explained that the fulfilment of the agreement would go a long way in bridging the gap between doctors working with the state and their counterparts at the federal level.
He added that the government must invest in the health infrastructure and working conditions for healthcare workers to achieving the desired objective.
While appreciating the commitment of health workers for their dedication and zeal in discharging their duty, he warned that the association will not tolerate indiscipline capable of destroying the profession.
The chairman however, said that this year’s theme is ”Ensuring Universal Applicability in Remuneration: A panaced to talent retention in the Healthcare System,” is a foundational component of sustained healthcare fair and universal renumeration.
He urged all levels of government to ensure the uniform implementation of the salary structure, the consolidated medical salary structure (CONMESS) across the states and healthcare levels.
Dr Ali then revealed that the association has lined up activities as part of this year’s Physicians week include lectures, medical outreach in Bichi local government among others.
