Critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria Northeast have applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-nominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the decision as a demonstration of loyalty, fairness, competence and inclusive leadership.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the Coordinating Chairman of the Northeast APC Youth Critical Stakeholders Forum, Comrade Haruna Sardauna and signed by the forum Publicity Secretary, Hon Abubakar Babake.
The group said the President’s decision has rekindled hope across the Northeast and reinforced confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
According to the forum, Vice President Shettima has distinguished himself as a loyal, dependable and result-oriented leader whose performance in office has justified the confidence reposed in him by President Tinubu and the ruling APC.
It added that his re-nomination reflects the administration’s commitment to continuity, stability and rewarding dedicated service.
The stakeholders further noted that the decision also reaffirms the strategic importance of the Northeast in Nigeria’s political landscape.
They recalled that the forum actively campaigned for the allocation of the vice-presidential slot to the region ahead of the 2023 elections and expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for sustaining the zoning arrangement.
“We sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for retaining the Vice Presidential slot in the Northeast through the re-nomination of Vice President Kashim Shettima. This decision reflects fairness, equity and sound political judgment,” the statement said.
Comrade Sardauna assured the President that the region’s youths would mobilize massively in support of the Tinubu/Shettima ticket in 2027, pledging to deliver more than 70 per cent of the votes from the Northeast.
He maintained that young people constitute the largest voting bloc in the region and are prepared to reward the administration for its confidence in the zone.
The forum also highlighted the significance of retaining the Vice Presidential position in a region that suffered years of Boko Haram insurgency, noting that ongoing federal interventions in reconstruction, security and humanitarian support have begun restoring peace, stability and economic activities across affected communities.
It added that the Tinubu administration has strengthened the Northeast’s sense of belonging through infrastructure development, security initiatives and inclusive governance, stressing that Shettima re-nomination would consolidate ongoing progress and ensure the continuation of policies aimed at improving the lives of residents.
The forum concluded by calling on APC we members, traditional rulers, community leaders and civil society organisations across the Northeast to unite behind the Tinubu/Shettima ticket, expressing confidence that the region is fully mobilised to deliver overwhelming support for the party in the 2027 general elections.
