The Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, has continued her strategic engagements aimed at expanding the visibility and academic relevance of the institution within Nigeria’s educational and professional sectors, following her participation in the 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja.
The high-level policy meeting, held on Monday, 11th May 2026, was convened by the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede, and attended by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, alongside Vice-Chancellors of universities across the country.
In continuation of her official engagements in the Federal Capital Territory, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, accompanied by the university Registrar, Dr. Adm. Isyaku Adamu; the Provost, College of Health Sciences, Professor Aliyu Abdu; and the Director of Advancement and Linkages, Professor Abdulmumini Yunusa, embarked on a series of institutional visits on Tuesday, 13th May 2026, aimed at strengthening professional collaborations and promoting the university’s growing academic profile.
The first visit was to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, where the Vice-Chancellor formally introduced Northwest University Kano to the council and highlighted the institution’s contributions to human capital development, particularly in the healthcare sector.
She also outlined the university’s available human resources, including both academic and non-teaching staff strength, and extended an invitation to the council for an advisory visit to support its developmental and academic aspirations.
On the same day, the delegation visited the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria with a similar objective of establishing professional linkages and institutional collaboration toward advancing medical and health-related programmes in the university.
They also paid a courtesy visit to the Registrar of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria, Dr. Idris Garba. During the interaction, he outlined key requirements and standards necessary for the establishment and accreditation of radiography-related programmes.
The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the observations and assured the board of the university’s commitment to meeting all requirements for academic excellence and professional accreditation.
The delegation further visited the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board of Nigeria, where preliminary discussions were held on possible areas of collaboration and programme development.
As part of the Abuja engagements, the Vice-Chancellor and her team also visited Barrister Ismael Ahmed, Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
During the meeting, fruitful discussions were held on potential collaboration between the initiative and the university.
Barrister Ahmed assured the delegation of the initiative’s readiness to establish a CNG conversion centre at Northwest University Kano to support staff who wish to convert their vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas.
He also pledged to donate a CNG bus to the university in support of its transportation and energy transition initiatives.
The Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar also participated in a two-day workshop on the Comprehensive Research Capacity Development Training Programme for Nigerian Universities, held at the auditorium of the National Universities Commission.
The series of visits and engagements form part of the ongoing institutional linkage initiatives introduced by Professor Amina Salihi Bayero since assuming office as Vice-Chancellor.
The initiative is widely seen as a strategic step toward positioning Northwest University Kano among leading institutions committed to academic excellence, professional compliance, research development, and advancement in healthcare education in Nigeria.
