The Plateau State Government has recovered over 60 public assets, including buildings, construction equipment, and vehicles, in an ongoing effort to reclaim government property allegedly diverted or illegally occupied across the state.

This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Taskforce on Recovery of Government Properties, retired General Nash Yakubu, while presenting an interim report to the Chief of Staff to the Plateau State Government, Jerry Satmak, in Jos.

According to him, the task force, which has been in operation for over one year, has recorded significant progress in identifying and recovering valuable government assets.

He explained that the recovered items include public buildings, operational vehicles, and construction equipment that were previously taken over or unlawfully retained by individuals.

General Yakubu further noted that the task force adopted the principle of “See Something, Say Something” to encourage residents to report government properties that may have been hidden, diverted, or illegally occupied.

He added that public support has played a crucial role in helping the committee trace several assets across different parts of the state.

The chairman reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to recovering all public properties and ensuring they are utilized for the benefit of the people.

He stated that the exercise forms part of broader efforts by the government to promote accountability, safeguard public resources, and restore confidence in governance.

Officials also indicated that the recovery drive would continue until all identified government assets are reclaimed and properly managed.
