The Police Staff College, Jos, has commenced three professional courses for its 2026 training cycle, marking the first time the institution is running the programmes concurrently since its establishment.
The six-week programmes are the Tactical Leadership and Command Course (TLCC) 24/2026, Operational Leadership and Command Course (OLCC) 12/2026, and Advanced Detective Course (ADC) 80/2026.
Speaking during the inauguration of the courses, the College Commandant, AIG Nnaghe Obono Itam, said the programmes were designed to strengthen the professional competence, leadership capacity and investigative skills of participants in response to emerging security challenges.
He explained that the TLCC is targeted at Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), while the OLCC is designed for Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).
The ADC, he added, is open to DSPs, Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), as well as personnel from other law enforcement and sister security agencies.
The Commandant urged the participants to approach the training with discipline, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility.
According to him, the courses would feature participatory and scenario-based learning aimed at equipping participants with practical skills required to effectively address contemporary security challenges.
He added that the programmes would also promote operational effectiveness through briefings, debriefings and After-Action Reviews, guided by the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach.
AIG Itam expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, and the Force Management Team for their support in enabling the College to conduct the three courses concurrently.
