The Queens of City Boy initiative has unveiled a comprehensive set of action plans aimed at strengthening women’s and youths’ participation in democratic processes, while promoting grassroots economic empowerment and community development.

The group emphasized that women and youth play a vital role in political mobilisation and the success of elections, describing them as key influencers within families and communities who shape opinions and drive civic engagement.

According to the initiative, increased involvement of women in voter education, grassroots campaigns, and community outreach will significantly boost public awareness and voter turnout, thereby enhancing democratic credibility.

The group further noted that, beyond participation, women contribute meaningfully as leaders, organisers, and advocates of inclusive governance.

Their active engagement, it said, helps promote fairness and ensures that policies reflect the needs of a broader population.

Highlighting the importance of grassroots empowerment, the initiative stressed that many women, particularly in rural and underserved communities, continue to face challenges such as limited access to education, finance, markets, and decision-making opportunities.

Despite these barriers, women were described as critical drivers of household welfare, local economies, and social stability, making their empowerment essential for sustainable national development.

As part of its objectives, Queens of City Boy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, while also prioritising programmes that advance women’s empowerment, youth development, and community growth.

To achieve these goals, the group outlined a range of strategic activities, including awareness and sensitisation campaigns through town hall meetings, market outreach, door-to-door engagement, and radio programmes in local languages.

It also plans to collaborate with religious institutions to deepen grassroots impact.

In addition, the initiative will implement training and capacity-building programmes focused on vocational skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, catering, soap-making, and farming, alongside business management and financial literacy training.

Digital skills development including smartphone usage, social media engagement, and online marketing will also form a key component of the programme, supported by leadership and confidence-building sessions.

The group noted that building strong support networks and providing access to resources will enable women to thrive economically and socially, while fostering inclusive development across communities.

It maintained that investing in skills development, financial inclusion, mentorship, and market access would unlock the potential of women as entrepreneurs and leaders, describing the initiative as a strategic pathway to poverty reduction, job creation, and long-term development.
