Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has signed the state’s 2027 Appropriation Law, totalling N828.58 billion, into law.
The Governor signed the budget at the Government House Banquet Hall on Wednesday, commending the Katsina State House of Assembly for its speedy consideration and passage of the Appropriation Bill.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Radda described the development as a collective achievement involving the executive and legislative arms of government.
He said the 2027 Appropriation Law provides for a total expenditure of N828,578,844,091.48, covering recurrent and capital expenditures.
Governor Radda noted that the budget was signed on September 30, 2026, two months earlier than the previous year’s Appropriation Law, which was assented to on November 17.
He commended the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for the early preparation of the budget proposal and thanked members of the State Executive Council and lawmakers for their support towards its successful passage.
The Governor described the 2027 budget as a “people-oriented budget,” saying it was developed based on inputs from the grassroots rather than through a top-down approach.
He urged ministries, departments and implementing agencies to ensure the timely execution of projects and programmes contained in the budget and focus on delivering tangible benefits to citizens.
Earlier, the Katsina State House of Assembly formally presented the 2027 Appropriation Law to Governor Radda following its passage by the legislature.
The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Nasiru Yahaya, said the Assembly had completed all legislative processes required for the approval of the budget.
He said the approved 2027 budget comprises N190.73 billion for recurrent expenditure and N637.85 billion for capital expenditure.
The Speaker congratulated Governor Radda on the signing of the 2027 Appropriation Bill into law, describing the development as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to timely planning and governance.
The signing ceremony was attended by principal officers and members of the Katsina State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, top government officials, party leaders and other stakeholders.
