Prominent women leader in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, Hajiya Ramlert Salisu Kutama, has called on the Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Dr. Mani Tsoho Getso, to take urgent action against the unsafe and indiscriminate overloading of passengers by commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) operators plying the Gwarzo–Kutama route.

In a statement made available to journalists, Hajiya Ramlert expressed concern over what she described as the reckless attitude of some tricycle operators, who overload passengers without regard for their safety and comfort.

She lamented that instead of carrying the approved three passengers on the back seat, many operators squeeze in a fourth passenger, making the journey uncomfortable and unsafe, particularly for women.

“It is unfortunate and unacceptable that passengers, especially women, are being packed into tricycles in such an uncomfortable manner.

“Most of these passengers are married women who deserve dignity and respect during transportation. We must have order and discipline in our daily lives,” she said.

Hajiya Ramlert appealed to the Gwarzo Local Government Chairman and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene by enforcing transportation regulations and ensuring that commercial tricycle operators comply with approved passenger limits.

She stressed that addressing the issue would not only improve passengers’ safety and comfort but also promote discipline and responsible public transportation within the local government area.
