The Human Rights Research and Advocacy Centre (HURRAC) has praised Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for appointing a young and vibrant legal practitioner, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude Gwadabe, SAN, as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Friday, October 10, 2025, in Abuja by HURRAC’s National Coordinator, Barrister Zubair Muhammad, who described the appointment as a progressive move reflecting the governor’s commitment to strengthening the justice system and promoting good governance.
“This appointment reflects a bold and visionary leadership approach. Maude SAN will not only bring legal excellence but also energy and innovation — qualities essential for justice sector reform,” the statement quoted Barrister Zubair as saying.
HURRAC also lauded the newly appointed Attorney General for his proactive start, noting that his recent visits to justice and correctional facilities demonstrate a clear commitment to enhancing the speedy dispensation of justice across the state.
“His early engagements show a commendable commitment to institutional assessment and practical solutions. We are confident that this momentum, if sustained, will lead to meaningful reforms in the justice sector,” Barrister Zubair added.
The organization further pledged its readiness to collaborate with the Kano State Ministry of Justice in areas such as human rights promotion, legal aid services, and justice sector development.
“We stand ready to support the Attorney General and his team in achieving a more efficient, accessible, and rights-based justice system. We urge him to maintain the momentum throughout his tenure,” the statement concluded.
