The Rundunar Kishin Kano/Kano Patriotic Front (RKK/KPF), under the leadership of retired Major General Ibrahim Sani, mni, has recorded significant achievements in the areas of justice advocacy, victim support, anti-drug campaigns, youth reorientation and the promotion of patriotism and national consciousness.
The organisation disclosed this on Tuesday in its Second Quarter Progress Report covering activities carried out between April and June 2026.
The Chairman of RKK/KPF, Major General (rtd) Ibrahim Sani, represented by the organisation’s Public Relations Officer, Hajiya Gambo Abba Mustapha, said the achievements recorded during the quarter reflected the organisation’s commitment to promoting the progress, security, dignity and good name of Kano State.
Established two years ago by a group of patriotic citizens of Kano State, RKK/KPF has adopted the vision of restoring Kano to its enviable position as a major socio-economic, cultural, industrial, business and trading hub of Northern Nigeria and the ECOWAS region.
The organisation said it was pursuing the vision through partnerships and collaboration with government institutions, well-meaning individuals, community groups and other citizens committed to the development of Kano State.
During the quarter under review, RKK/KPF sustained its intervention in a rape case involving four victims, maintaining follow-up with the Magistrate Court where the matter had been ongoing for about five months.
The organisation said the case was still awaiting legal advice from the Kano State Ministry of Justice, with the latest hearing held in June 2026.
In addition to pursuing justice for the victims, RKK/KPF provided humanitarian support by paying each of the four victims a monthly token of N15,000 to help alleviate their suffering, pain and frustration.
The organisation also intensified its campaign against drug abuse and the activities of yan daba across Kano State during the quarter.
In collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), RKK/KPF participated in activities marking the 2026 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse on June 25.
As part of the campaign, the organisation sponsored enlightenment programmes on Rahama and Mahasa television and radio stations, where the dangers of drug abuse and its negative consequences on individuals, families and society were extensively discussed.
RKK/KPF also participated in an awareness rally which commenced from the NDLEA office along Airport Road and passed through the Immigration Training School, Hajj Camp, Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Gidan Sarki and Civic Centre before returning to the NDLEA office.
The organisation said its efforts in the fight against drug abuse, daba and the rehabilitation of former street gangs had attracted commendation from the NDLEA command in Kano.
According to the report, the NDLEA commandant specifically acknowledged RKK/KPF’s interventions around Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kofar Mata, Zage and the rehabilitation activities at Gabasawa Irrigation Farm.
The report quoted the NDLEA commandant as acknowledging the organisation’s efforts, particularly its role in fighting drug abuse and daba as well as rehabilitating yan daba in Kano.
Another major achievement recorded during the quarter was the organisation of a memorial symposium in honour of Nigeria’s former Head of State, the late General Sani Abacha.
RKK/KPF said the symposium, which it described as the first of its kind in the country, was held on June 9, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammad Library, Ahmadu Bello Way, Kano, under the theme, “Securing Nigeria: The Strategic Examples of Late General Sani Abacha’s Administration.”
The symposium attracted more than 328 students from Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board and the State Science and Technical Schools Board.
According to the organisation, the event was designed to expose young Nigerians to patriotism, discipline, strategic leadership and national unity, while encouraging them to develop a deeper understanding of Nigeria’s political and historical development.
Three major papers were presented at the symposium, including “A Review of the Life of a Man: General Sani Abacha,” by Ambassador Ahmed Umar, OON, Sarkin Yakin Kano; “The Economic Strategies of Late General Sani Abacha’s Administration,” by Professor Aminu Abdu Bichi; and “The Health Sector Strategies of Late General Sani Abacha’s Administration,” by Col. (rtd) Prof. Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, mni.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of RKK/KPF, Major General (rtd) Ibrahim Sani, highlighted what he described as the late General Abacha’s contributions to economic management, national unity and foreign policy.
He also announced plans to establish a committee that would compile a compendium documenting the life and contributions of the late Head of State.
The initiative received commendation from Professor Kamilu Sani Fagge, who delivered the welcome address, while the chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Garba Abdulkadir Yakasai, recalled General Abacha’s military career and described him as a courageous and patriotic Nigerian.
Alhaji Gidado Muktar also highlighted some of Abacha’s achievements, while representatives of the late Head of State’s family, including retired Inspector-General of Police Sulaiman Abba and Professor Sabo Abdullahi Albasu, expressed appreciation to RKK/KPF and supported the proposed compendium project.
Representing the Emir of Kano, Walin Kano Alhaji Bashir Mahe conveyed the Emir’s prayers and called for unity and patriotism among Nigerians.
The interactive session at the symposium also provided students and other participants with an opportunity to engage the speakers, ask questions and discuss issues surrounding leadership, national security and Nigeria’s history.
RKK/KPF said participants demonstrated a good understanding of the objectives of the symposium and expressed appreciation for the initiative, while requesting that similar programmes be organised to examine the lives and contributions of other national figures and discuss important national issues.
The organisation also strengthened its public enlightenment activities during the quarter through a weekly programme sponsored on Rahama Radio.
The programme provided a platform for discussing critical issues affecting Kano residents, including the rape case in Unguwa Uku, security challenges, prison congestion and the General Sani Abacha memorial symposium.
RKK/KPF said the various interventions undertaken during the second quarter demonstrated its commitment to using advocacy, humanitarian support, public enlightenment and youth engagement to contribute to the development and stability of Kano State.
The organisation expressed appreciation to its members, partners and stakeholders for their support in making the programmes successful, stressing that it remained committed to working with all good citizens of Kano to build a safer, more prosperous and united state.
It reaffirmed its determination to continue pursuing programmes capable of restoring Kano to its enviable position as a leading socio-economic, cultural, industrial, business and trading hub of Northern Nigeria and the ECOWAS region.
