The Sokoto State Hisbah Board has successfully shut down a house suspected of being used as a brothel in the Sokoto Cilma area of Sokoto metropolis and arrested eleven suspects, both men and women.
The operation, which took place on the evening of Wednesday, 20/05/2026, was carried out under a special initiative tagged “Operation Tsaftace Birni Shehu,” aimed at combating acts that violate public morality and religious laws in the state.
Reports indicate that the Hisbah officials carried out the raid following intelligence received from members of the public.
The suspects were arrested, and the house was sealed pending further investigation.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of the Acting Commander of the Sokoto State Hisbah Board, Imam Sirajo Abubakar, who also serves as the Director of Da’awah and Aids.
Sources said the board reiterated its commitment to ridding Sokoto city of all forms of prostitution and other activities that corrupt the morals of youths, warning those involved to desist or face prosecution.
