The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter Electoral Committee, known as SWANECO, has fixed November 24, 2026, for the election of new executive members to steer the affairs of the association.
The Chairman of the State Electoral Committee, Abdulgafar Oladimeji, announced the date during a press conference held on Wednesday at the Radio Nigeria Pyramid FM Conference Hall in Kano.
Oladimeji, who was accompanied by the two other members of the electoral committee, outlined the guidelines and procedures that would govern the forthcoming electoral process.
He explained that the guidelines cover the sale of nomination forms to interested candidates, the deadline for submitting completed forms, the screening of aspirants and the manifesto day for candidates who successfully pass the screening exercise.
According to him, the committee is committed to conducting a credible, transparent and peaceful election in accordance with the provisions of the SWAN Constitution and established electoral procedures.
He urged interested members seeking elective positions to familiarise themselves with the guidelines and ensure compliance with all the requirements and deadlines set by the committee.
The electoral committee also emphasised the importance of cooperation among members to ensure a smooth electoral process that would strengthen unity and promote the continued development of sports journalism in Kano State.
The November 24 election is expected to usher in a new executive leadership that will take responsibility for the affairs of the SWAN Kano State Chapter.
