The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Malam Yusuf Kabir, has called on stakeholders and members of the public to complement government efforts toward improving education in Kano State.

Kabir made the call on Friday during an inspection visit to Tarauni Local Government Area, where he assessed ongoing construction of new classrooms and the renovation of existing school buildings.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, noting that similar projects were being successfully executed across several local government areas of the state.

“Education is the foundation of sustainable development, and while the government is doing a lot, there is still a strong need for individuals and communities to support these efforts,” Kabir said.

He commended the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for prioritising education, but stressed that collective responsibility was required to fully realise the administration’s vision.

The SUBEB chairman also praised the member representing Tarauni Local Government Area in the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Dahiru Sule, for his role in facilitating classroom construction, renovation of existing structures, and the provision of desks and chairs.

“I must commend Hon. Kabiru Dahiru Sule for the attention he gives to improving learning infrastructure in his constituency. Such commitment goes a long way in strengthening basic education,” he added.

On security, Kabir urged local government chairmen to urgently collaborate with the State Ministry for Local Government to recruit security personnel to safeguard primary and junior secondary schools across the state.

He further lauded Governor Yusuf for addressing longstanding challenges in the education sector, including infrastructure deficits and manpower shortages.

According to him, the government has constructed new classrooms, renovated dilapidated school buildings, recruited new teachers, and is planning additional recruitment, while also resolving issues related to teachers’ promotions and welfare.

Kabir reaffirmed SUBEB’s commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure a conducive learning environment and sustainable development of basic education in Kano State.
