From Mu’awiya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Chairman of Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, Hon. Sirajo Ado Jibia, has dismissed claims by opposition parties that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is anti-North, describing the allegation as baseless and untrue.
Jibia made the remarks during a meeting with Special Assistants and Deputy Special Assistants appointed by the local government council on Saturday.
He accused opposition parties of creating political confusion and attempting to sow disunity in the country by portraying the Tinubu administration as being against the North.
According to him, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated its commitment to the development of the North through the appointment of Northerners to key positions and policies aimed at developing the region.
Jibia said the Federal Government had not implemented any policy specifically targeted against the North, challenging the opposition to substantiate its claims with facts.
He advised opposition parties to campaign based on facts and avoid issues capable of heightening tension and creating disunity among Nigerians.
The council chairman also said APC administrations at both the state and federal levels would campaign on the basis of achievements and fulfilment of promises rather than mere campaign rhetoric.
He commended the unity and performance of elected representatives and political appointees from Jibia Local Government, saying their efforts had contributed to improving the lives of residents through projects and humanitarian assistance.
“We are confident of winning the election because of the performance of our elected representatives and political appointees. They have performed well in improving the lives of our people through the delivery of projects and humanitarian assistance,” he said.
Jibia thanked the Special Assistants and Deputy Special Assistants for organising the meeting and for their efforts towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
He acknowledged their loyalty, support and contributions towards the smooth implementation of the council’s policies and programmes.
The chairman directed them to mobilise residents of the area and campaign for the re-election of all APC candidates in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
He assured them that the council would continue to support them in discharging their responsibilities.
Earlier, the Special Assistant on Enlightenment, Mannir Ibrahim Nowa, said the meeting was convened to develop strategies and discuss contributions towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
Nowa disclosed that the local government council pays monthly allowances to 226 Special Assistants and Deputy Special Assistants, stressing that the time had come for them to reciprocate the gesture by mobilising votes for APC candidates.
He said a forum of political appointees in the council had been established to commence house-to-house campaigns and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
