In its efforts to cushion hardship being experienced among the citizens, the Federal government, in conjunction with the Sokoto state government, has distributed palliatives of 24,734 bags of rice.

The bags of rice consist of the 12,367 of 25kg supplied by the federal government with an additional 12,367 25kg procured by the state government.

Speaking while flagging off the distribution at the government house on Wednesday evening, the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu, said his administration’s policies and programmes are geared towards making life better for all in the state.

The governor said, “I will leave no stone unturned to make life better for all.”

In line with that promise, the governor said, “My administration has decided to add an additional 12,367 bags of 25kg rice to the initial 12,367 bags given by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the people of the state”

While reiterating that the occasion is special, hence it’s aimed at putting smiles on the faces of Nigerians, the governor added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the masses at heart always.

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a President with a listening ear and has the people in his heart at all times,” governor Ahmed noted.

Governor Aliyu further divulged that his administration has also ordered the purchase of 300 trucks of rice to be sold to the people of the state at a highly subsidized rate of about 52 per cent.

Speaking on the security situation in the state, the governor commended the President for ordering service chiefs to relocate to Sokoto and flush out bandits from their hideouts

Earlier, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Kabir Masari, said if President Tinubu can give such huge palliatives, then Nigerians should expect more from him in no distant time.

Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has Sokoto state on his agenda.

”This explains why the President recently awarded a contract from Illela in Sokoto down to Augie, a road that will reach the border town of Badagri in Lagos state.

“The President also gave lots of money for the sustainability of Sokoto State Rural Rima Basin Development Authority, which is geared towards bolstering agriculture and fishing in the state.

“‘We are not surprised that the President is caring for Nigerians because he has said before that his only prayer was to lead Nigeria into greatness.

“For any nation to become great, they must make bitter decisions. And the only way to overcome is to encourage further understanding between the led and the leaders” Bagudu noted.

He further said, “The Federal Government is deeply concerned about insecurity in Nigeria and working round the clock to bring it to an end.

“The Federal Government also has series of policies to boost farming, livestock rearing, economic prosperity and ensure the security of all citizens.”

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries from amongst disabled people, Afsatu Muazu and Mallam Aminu Tsufi, who spoke on behalf of Sokoto Islamic clerics, thanked both the federal and state governments as well as Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for their numerous support to humanity.
