The Presidential Media Team under the Renewed Hope Ambassadors of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has on Wednesday commended Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for his administration’s developmental strides following an inspection tour of the ongoing Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project and other key infrastructure projects across the state.

The delegation, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Mr. Sunday Dare, was received at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, by the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, alongside the Head of Service, TPL Malami Shekare, and members of the State Executive Council.

The team later inspected several ongoing and completed projects executed by both the Federal and Kebbi State governments.

Speaking during the tour, Sunday Dare described the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway as a transformative national project capable of positioning Nigeria among modern economies driven by sustainable infrastructure and long-term development planning.

According to him, the highway project, which connects major economic corridors from the northern Sokoto–Badagry route to the Lagos–Calabar axis, reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to regional integration, economic growth, and improved livelihoods for Nigerians.

Dare said the inspection tour provided clear evidence of the Federal Government’s determination to deliver on its infrastructure agenda, stressing that the visible level of work on the project had dispelled doubts expressed by critics.

“Seeing is believing. We have seen ongoing construction work, completed sections, and the direct impact the project is already having on communities,” he stated.

He explained that the media tour was part of activities lined up to showcase achievements recorded by the Tinubu administration ahead of its third anniversary in office, noting that the government’s 1,095 days had produced visible and measurable results.

The Presidential aide also praised Governor Nasir Idris for executing people-oriented projects across Kebbi State and appreciated the warm reception accorded to the delegation.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, commended President Tinubu for reviving the long-envisioned Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project, describing it as a bold initiative with enormous economic benefits for the country.

He revealed that Kebbi State hosts about 258 kilometers of the highway, making it the largest beneficiary state along the corridor.

Tafida further stated that the Kebbi State Government had continued to provide adequate security and logistical support to ensure smooth execution of the project.

Providing technical updates, the Federal Controller of Works in Kebbi State, represented by Malami Aliyu, disclosed that construction commenced in December 2024 and had already recorded significant progress, including 88 kilometers of site clearing, 19 kilometers of completed concrete pavement, and 6.3 kilometers of median installation.

He added that solar-powered streetlights were also being installed, while the project is expected to be completed within four years.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Faruk Muslim, highlighted several state government projects inspected by the delegation, including the completed 6.4-kilometer Argungu dual carriage bypass with solar streetlights, and rehabilitated federal roads linking Argungu to Natsini, Bui to Kangiwa, and Kangiwa to Kamba.

Other projects visited by the delegation included the Mega School in Argungu, the ultra-modern State Secretariat Complex in Birnin Kebbi, the newly constructed Central Motor Park, and mass transit buses procured by the state government to boost transportation and commercial activities.

The visit further demonstrated the growing collaboration between the Federal Government and Kebbi State in promoting infrastructure-driven development, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway would enhance agriculture, trade, and regional connectivity across the country.
