Residents of Blabiri village in Michika local government of Adamawa state are counting their losses following flooding that occurred in the area.

As raining season sets in, there is a Hausa adage “ruwa tayi Gyara” meaning raining season has done well no matter what.

Blabiri suffered the flooding which sent an early warning to the state government that affected the houses and food items of the people living in that community.

His bitter experience after inspecting the affected areas, the state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the government is set to come to the aid of the victims.

After sympathising with the people, the Governor said the government will at the end of the rainy season look at how to arrest the routes of the floods.

While advising those at the banks of the streams to relocate to safer grounds, he called on the people to be patient and vigilant as this situation may happen at night when everyone is asleep.

The flooding which occurred as a result of heavy downpours on the mountainous area has caused damage to houses, food items and sources of livelihood for the people of that area.
