Troops of the Mobile Strike Team (MST) under Operation Fasan Yamma (OPFY) have eliminated a notorious terrorist commander, Auta, along with several of his associates during a clearance operation in Zamfara State.
The operation, carried out around Ƙunchin Kalgo in Tsafe Local Government Area, was part of ongoing efforts by the military to rid the North-West of criminal elements.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday.
He said the offensive led to the killing of Auta, along with two of his top lieutenants, Abdul Jamilu and Salisu, all of whom were linked to numerous acts of terrorism and violence in the region.
“The operation marks a significant blow to terrorist elements operating in Zamfara, disrupting their activities and degrading their operational capabilities,” Kangye said.
Preliminary intelligence, according to him, also confirmed the killing of two additional terrorist kingpins, including one identified as Babayé.
In a related development, troops reportedly neutralised Sale Ado Madele, alias Sarki, the eldest son of notorious bandit leader Ado Alieru.
Kangye further revealed that in a separate encounter near a filling station in Danjibga, troops eliminated 10 terrorists believed to be part of a syndicate assembled by a known bandit, Dogo Sule, for an impending attack.
He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace across Zamfara and the broader North-West.
“This operation underscores our resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and bring all perpetrators of violence to justice,” Kangye stated.
