Troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, have neutralised a notorious terrorist kingpin, Sani Rusu, in Zamfara State.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Hadarin Daji, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the operation was conducted over the weekend during a fighting patrol in Bamamu Village, Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA).
On the same day, troops carried out an ambush based on credible intelligence about terrorist activities in Kwanar Jollof, Shinkafi LGA. The operation resulted in the neutralisation of several terrorists, while others sustained severe injuries.
Recovered items included:
- One AK-47 rifle
- One G3 rifle
- Eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
- Four rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition
- Three magazines
- Three motorcycles
In a separate operation on December 30, 2024, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji conducted airstrikes targeting terrorists converging between the Fakai and Kware areas in Shinkafi LGA. Intelligence revealed that the terrorists, led by Bello Turji, had gathered for a meeting.
A follow-up operation on January 2, 2025, involved airstrikes in the Maikaman Rini area of Sububu Forest. These strikes supported ground troops targeting the camp of another terrorist kingpin, Ibrahim Chumo.
Additionally, on January 5, 2025, troops launched offensive operations against Bello Turji’s camp in the Chida area of Shinkafi. Aerial surveillance confirmed that the terrorists suffered significant casualties, with many injured and their hideouts destroyed.
Operation Hadarin Daji reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorist threats across its operational theater, assuring the public of its determination to restore peace and security in the region.
The Joint Task Force also urged community members to continue providing actionable intelligence to support ongoing operations.
