The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Breakthrough Football Academy, Kano, Hajiya Hida Ahmad Ghaddar, has expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded by the academy within two years of its establishment, describing the journey as fruitful and impactful.

Speaking in an interview, Hajiya Hida said many people are often surprised to see a woman actively involved in football development, but explained that her passion for the sport began during her years as a football coach in Lebanon.

“People are usually amazed that a woman is deeply involved in football activities. I worked as a football coach in Lebanon for several years, and that was where I developed the interest and vision of establishing my own football academy,” she said.

According to her, the academy started modestly with only eight young boys training at Race Course in Kano. She noted that one of the major challenges faced at the beginning was securing a permanent training ground.

“We initially found it difficult to get a suitable site for our training activities, but today, by the grace of God, we have secured land and development work is ongoing. Insha Allah, the facility will be transformed into a modern football stadium that meets global standards,” she stated.

Hajiya Hida emphasized that the academy’s mission extends beyond football training, stressing that the welfare and overall development of the players remain a top priority.

“We are not only teaching football skills. We also educate our players on mental health, psychology, discipline, and leadership.

“Furthermore, we ensure that they are enrolled in formal education, and we support them in their academic pursuits,” she explained.

She disclosed that the academy currently operates two standard teams: an Under-19 team and an Under-15 team. Plans are also underway to recruit younger players beginning from the age of five.

“We have completed arrangements to enlist new players from the age of five and above. Details of the registration process and contact information will be announced soon,” she added.

Hajiya Hida commended the efforts of the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his commitment to youth empowerment and educational development.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is a leader who consistently supports young people through educational scholarships, school construction, and other developmental initiatives.

“We appeal to the government to continue investing in sports as a means of engaging and empowering our youth,” she said.

She also appreciated the support received from the Emirs of Kano and other stakeholders who have contributed to the growth of the academy.

“Alhamdulillah, we are happy to be contributing to the development of Kano State through sports, and we remain grateful to all those who have supported our vision,” she concluded.

The Breakthrough Football Academy has continued to gain recognition for its commitment to nurturing young talents while combining sports development with education and character building.
