Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Thursday joined thousands of mourners in Bauchi to pay their final respect to the revered Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Friday.
The Vice President arrived in company of top government officials such as the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribado to join Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Governor Umar Mohammed Bago of Niger State, Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi State, Senator Kawu Sumaila, and several dignitaries who converged on Bauchi for the funeral prayer of the late scholar.
Governor Yusuf described the death of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as a monumental loss to the Muslim Ummah, noting that Nigeria and the global Islamic community have lost one of the most influential scholars of the modern era.
He added that the revered Islamic scholar remains the longest-serving preacher of our time, whose teachings, guidance, and leadership shaped generations of Muslims across the world.
The Governor condoled the Bauchi State Government, the Tijjaniyya community, the family of the deceased, and the entire Muslim Ummah, praying to Allah to grant the scholar eternal rest and reward his lifetime of service to Islam and humanity.
