Sons and daughters of Wase have contributed and raised over N24 million to purchase a nomination form for their son, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Idris Wase, who represents Wase Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

The nomination form was presented to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Hon. Rufus Nature, for his blessings by the member representing Wase Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Galadima, who led the delegation.

He said the nomination form was purchased through contributions from sons and daughters of Wase, urging Hon. Wase to recontest for the seat.

According to him, they are satisfied with his performance and want him to continue providing quality representation.

He added that they have witnessed significant progress under Hon. Idris Wase’s leadership, citing improvements in infrastructure and human capital development as key indicators of the dividends of democracy.

Responding, the APC Chairman, Hon. Rufus Nature, said he was honoured, noting that it was the first time he was receiving such a show of support, which gave him great pleasure.

According to him, the respect accorded to the party by the honourable member, through this group, is remarkable.

“I must say it is almost unique. I am always proud to speak about Wase Constituency because I often tell people that I am even a bit jealous of Wase.”

He noted that the presence of the Federal Government in Wase Constituency is more visible than in many other places; therefore, the people of Wase have no reason to feel neglected.

The chairman further stated that the framers of the constitution of Nigeria were deliberate in assigning tenures, particularly for the executive, while leaving the legislature to the people to decide.

“That is why I welcome you and sincerely thank you for showing appreciation to someone who has positively impacted your lives. I believe that, directly or indirectly, everyone here has benefited from the goodwill and representation of your constituency,” he said.

According to him, he has also personally benefited from a number of individuals; however, this does not mean that anyone is being prevented from exercising their conscience.

He further stated that the Constitution is very clear that people are free to exercise their franchise, adding that the party operates strictly within the law.

“Everything we do is to ensure a level playing field so that the people can freely make their choice regarding who represents them.”

Hon. Bature stated that the people would ultimately determine whether the honourable member returns or not, adding that while God has His plan, people must align themselves with it.
