The Chairman of Yankifi Cooperative Market, Kano, Alhaji Suleiman Haruna Dan Auta, has appealed to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to pay urgent attention to the challenges facing traders in the market.

He made the appeal while delivering a Sallah goodwill message to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin.

Speaking at the market’s office in Kano, the chairman described Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as a sympathetic, considerate, and listening leader who has maintained a cordial relationship with traders in the state.

According to him, one of the major challenges facing the market is inadequate space, despite the large number of youths conducting business there.

He therefore appealed to the governor to consider relocating the market to Dangwauro Market to allow for expansion and provide more shops for traders.

“Our market is blessed with many hardworking youths, but lack of enough space remains a serious challenge.

We are appealing to His Excellency to relocate the market to Dangwauro Market so that every trader can have a shop,” he said.

The chairman also called on the Kano State Government to empower traders in the market, noting that many merchants had lost their business capital due to poor electricity supply.

He further appealed to the government to provide solar energy to improve commercial activities in the market.

Alhaji Suleiman Haruna Dan Auta expressed appreciation to the governor for his leadership and commitment to the development of Kano State, describing Kano as the commercial nerve centre of Northern Nigeria.
