From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
The attention of the Yobe State Government has been drawn to a false and misleading post on social media alleging approval of a new minimum wage.
This was contained in a statement by Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs, to Governor Mai Mala Buni.
According to him, the government of Yobe State has not issued any statement about the minimum wage as it is still working on it and will provide a statement on this as soon as it is completed.
He said: “It is grossly irresponsible, pre-emptive and misleading for anyone to unofficially leak or post any statement for or on behalf of the state government.
“The post failed to provide details nor indicate when and where the statement emanated, making the content professionally discredited.
“Similarly, Daily Trust newspaper has disowned the content, saying the logo used on the online post is not its logo, and the story could not be found on its website.”
He urged the public to disregard the mischievous and misleading post, as you will be furnished with an official and credible statement from the government.
