Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has announced his administration’s plans to capitalize on the state’s abundant resources to attract investments and create jobs.

During a courtesy visit by Ms. Elsie Attafuah, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Nigeria, Governor Buni highlighted the state’s potential in agriculture, particularly sesame seed production, and livestock.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to developing these sectors to boost international trade and generate wealth.

With improved security, the state is now shifting its attention towards economic development and leveraging its resources for investment opportunities.

Governor Buni highlighted the state’s strategic investment in infrastructure, including the recently operational airport, to facilitate economic growth and curb rural-urban migration.

He expressed optimism that improved accessibility will encourage greater involvement from development partners.

Ms. Attafuah commended the efforts of the Yobe State government in addressing the challenges faced by the state.

She expressed UNDP’s willingness to collaborate with the state government on various development initiatives, including the identified investment opportunities.
