The Zuru Emirate Council of Chiefs has urged the media team of Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, to sustain the publicity of the infrastructural projects being executed across the state, describing the initiative as a “reality show” of the administration’s achievements.
The call was made during separate courtesy visits by the governor’s media team to the palaces of traditional rulers in the emirate, according to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru.
The Emir of Zuru and Chairman of the Zuru Emirate Council, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, said, “without fear of contradiction,” that Governor Nasir Idris has performed creditably in improving the socio-economic well-being of the people across various sectors.
He noted that it is “no longer a secret” that the governor, who holds the traditional title of Garkuwan Zuru, has saved lives and revived economic activities, particularly through the reconstruction of the long-abandoned Koko-Zuru Federal Road.
The Emir also highlighted other achievements of the administration, including the establishment of mega secondary schools offering additional academic subjects and skills acquisition programmes, as well as the rehabilitation and construction of healthcare facilities across the four local government areas of the emirate.
He commended the governor’s foresight in initiating the media tour to showcase government projects and challenged the media team to not only sustain the momentum but also improve on it.
“Although, as traditional leaders, we remain non-partisan and serve all people regardless of political affiliation, we must appreciate and commend anyone who responds to the yearnings and aspirations of our people,” the Emir said.
Similarly, the Chief of Wasagu, Alhaji Mukhtar Muhammad Musa, commended Governor Idris for his commitment to addressing insecurity and combating armed banditry.
He, however, called for periodic reviews of security strategies to ensure sustained success.
Also speaking, the Chief of Dabai, Alhaji Suleiman Mika’ilu Sami, praised the state government’s empowerment programmes, saying they have had a direct and positive impact on the lives of the people.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, who led the media team and Special Advisers on the tour, said the visit was aimed at seeking the support of media organisations, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders in projecting the positive development narrative of Kebbi State.
