The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Zamfara State Chapter, has announced that 11 out of the 18 registered political parties in the state will participate in the local government elections scheduled for November 16.

Alhaji Isah Moriki, the state chairman of IPAC, made this disclosure during a press briefing in Gusau on Tuesday.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), the main opposition party in the state, had previously taken legal action against the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) by filing a suit at the Federal High Court in Gusau, alleging irregularities in the election process.

Moriki, who also serves as the state chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), confirmed that 11 political parties under the IPAC umbrella have completed preparations to participate in the upcoming elections.

“We recently held a meeting with ZASIEC, where the commission’s chairman briefed us on their preparations for the local government elections on November 16. The commission assured us of its commitment to conducting credible elections,” Moriki said.

He further added that IPAC leadership is satisfied with the commission’s arrangements and believes it has met all the legal requirements to conduct a free and fair election.

The political parties set to participate include the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Alliance Peoples Movement (APM), and All Peoples Party (APP).

Other participating parties include the African Action Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Youth Party (YP).
