The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Barr. Oluwaseun Faleye, has called for stronger collaboration among government, employers, and workers to promote sustainable economic growth and improve workers’ protection.

Faleye made the call on Monday in Abuja while delivering a goodwill message at the 5th Annual Summit of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA).

He described the theme of the summit, “Leveraging Reforms and ESG for Enterprise Competitiveness and Inclusive National Growth,” as timely, especially as businesses continue to adjust to policy reforms and emerging economic realities.

“Across the country, businesses are adapting to reforms, responding to new realities and seeking innovative ways to remain competitive while creating value for society,” Faleye said.

Quoting a Nigerian adage, “The left hand washes the right, and the right hand washes the left,” the NSITF boss emphasised that lasting progress depends on partnership.

He said government, employers, and workers all have important roles to play, adding that cooperation built on trust and shared objectives would benefit all stakeholders.

According to him, NSITF views workers’ protection and enterprise competitiveness as complementary goals, noting that a safe and confident workforce is more productive and resilient.

Faleye also highlighted the importance of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme as a key pillar of social protection, saying it supports workers while providing employers with “confidence to operate within a fair and predictable framework.”

“As Nigeria pursues economic reforms, we must remain deliberate in ensuring that growth is inclusive and that no segment of our workforce is left behind,” he stated.

While commending NECA for sustaining the annual platform, Faleye expressed optimism that the two-day summit would generate practical ideas capable of strengthening enterprise competitiveness and contributing to national development.

The NECA Summit brings together private sector leaders, policymakers, and labour stakeholders to deliberate on issues affecting Nigeria’s business environment and economic growth.
