From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Amirul Hajj and Leader of the 2026 Katsina State Hajj Delegation, Barrister Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq, has charged Hajj guides to treat their responsibilities to pilgrims as a primary assignment throughout the pilgrimage period.
This was contained in a statement issued by Ahmed Abdulkadir, Media Representative of the State Hajj Delegation.
According to the statement, the Amirul Hajj gave the charge during a meeting with Hajj guides attended by members of the delegation, as well as the Chairman and members of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Barrister El-Marzuq emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline and commitment in the discharge of duties, stressing that assigned responsibilities must take precedence, while personal acts of worship should be carried out alongside official engagements.
He warned officials against negligence and arrogance in the course of duty, noting that no individual should consider himself too highly placed to perform assigned responsibilities because of personal relationships with influential persons.
The Amirul Hajj also disclosed that issues relating to gold and silver teeth among pilgrims would be properly coordinated under an appointed leader to protect pilgrims from exploitation and cheating.
He further advised guides to always seek clarification from appointed religious leaders on matters relating to Hajj rites and other issues that may not be fully understood.
Speaking during the meeting, the Secretary of the delegation, Abubakar Yusuf, reminded the guides that they carry enormous responsibility in ensuring the success of the Hajj operation and safeguarding the welfare of pilgrims under their supervision.
Also speaking, Murja Ibrahim Duwan urged officials to exercise patience while dealing with pilgrims, emphasizing the need to assist them at all times and avoid losing their temper in the course of their duties.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Kabir Bature, explained that the primary responsibility of guides is to lead pilgrims to designated locations, provide direction, and assist those who may become separated from their groups.
The meeting formed part of ongoing preparations aimed at ensuring a smooth and successful 2026 Hajj operation for pilgrims from Katsina State.
