Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has fulfilled his promise to provide 200 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim from the state participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The Amirul Hajj and Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, symbolically presented the cash to some pilgrims on behalf of the governor and directed centre officers across all local government contingents to ensure the distribution of the Saudi Riyals to the remaining pilgrims.
This was contained in a statement issued by Mustapha Muhammad, Head of the Media Team for Kano Hajj Operations 2026.
A total of 3,620 pilgrims from Kano State are benefiting from the gesture, with the government disbursing 724,000 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to approximately N275.12 million.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Emir of Gaya expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Hajj operations so far, noting that no major incidents, deaths, or serious challenges had been recorded.
He attributed the success to the cooperation and dedication of members of the Hajj operation team.
He also advised pilgrims to be prudent in their spending and urged them to intensify prayers for Kano State and Nigeria, especially as the country approaches another election season.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Yusuf Lawan, commended Governor Yusuf for fulfilling his pledge to the pilgrims.
“We are here to distribute the 200 Saudi Riyals to all Kano State pilgrims as promised by His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf,” he stated.
Also speaking, the Deputy Amirul Hajj and Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad Maharaz, reminded centre officers of the importance of their responsibilities and urged them to uphold the trust and confidence reposed in them by ensuring a transparent and smooth distribution process.
The event featured the symbolic presentation of the 200 Saudi Riyals to selected beneficiaries.
The pilgrims expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the gesture and offered prayers for Allah’s continued guidance, protection, and blessings upon him.
