The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State has nominated Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura, the member representing Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, as the party’s deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.

Ambarura will run alongside the ADC governorship candidate, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya, under a ticket the party described as experienced, credible and people-oriented.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party’s Caretaker Committee in Sokoto State, Hon. Lamir Aminu.

The party said the nomination was made in line with Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), following extensive consultations and careful consideration.

According to the statement, Ambarura is a seasoned technocrat and public servant who rose through the ranks of the Sokoto State Civil Service to become a Permanent Secretary.

After his retirement, he served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industries before being elected to the Sokoto State House of Assembly, where he was Majority Leader from 2019 to 2023.

He currently represents Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The party said his extensive experience in public administration and legislative service would complement the leadership of Dan’Iya, adding that the ADC ticket offers Sokoto voters a capable and competent team for the 2027 governorship election.

The ADC congratulated Ambarura on his nomination and urged members, supporters and the people of Sokoto State to rally behind the Dan’Iya-Ambarura ticket in pursuit of a secure, prosperous and progressive state.

Meanwhile, the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya, congratulated Ambarura on his emergence as the deputy governorship candidate, describing it as a significant milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, Dan’Iya expressed confidence that the ADC now has a formidable and experienced ticket capable of providing purposeful leadership for Sokoto State.

He commended the party leadership, elders and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in Ambarura, noting that the consensus reached in selecting the deputy governorship candidate reflected the party’s unity, maturity and commitment to internal democracy.

Dan’Iya described Ambarura as an accomplished administrator, legislator and respected public servant whose experience in both the executive and legislative arms of government would strengthen the party’s ticket.

He said the combination of his own background in governance and financial management with Ambarura’s record in public administration and legislative leadership would provide Sokoto State with balanced and effective leadership capable of addressing the state’s developmental challenges.

The ADC governorship candidate reaffirmed the party’s commitment to policies that prioritise security, quality education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, economic growth, infrastructure development and transparent governance.

He urged party leaders, members and supporters across the state’s 23 local government areas to remain united and committed to grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dan’Iya also expressed appreciation to the leader of the ADC in Sokoto State, Senator Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and other party elders and stakeholders for their guidance during the consultation process that produced the deputy governorship candidate.

He expressed confidence that, with the support of the people of Sokoto State, the ADC ticket is well-positioned to provide responsible, inclusive and people-centred leadership in the 2027 general elections.
