Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Project (AGILE) in collaboration with the Katsina state government has disbursed N8.4 billion for school improvement in the state.

About 100 senior and junior secondary schools will benefit from the assistance.

The fund will be managed and spent by school-based Management. Committees (SBM)at the Local government level.

Speaking while flagging off the disbursement in Rimi local government, Governor Dikko Umar Ɍadda called for judicious utilisation of the amount.

Radda commended school Management Committees for complementing efforts in reviving education in the state.

He also commended AGILE for introducing entrepreneurship in schools, noting it will address the unemployment problem and enhance economic activities in the state.

Radda promised to assist graduates of entrepreneurship with kits to open businesses. Earlier, State Commissioner of Education, Hadiza Abubakar Yar’Adua said the disbursement of the funds indicated government commitment to improving teaching and learning in schools.

Hadiza said the state government has recently trained 10,000 teachers to enhance their performance. According to her, the Government will continue to train teachers and motivate them to perform their responsibilities.

Hadiza said to improve Girls’ education government has reviewed feeding Allowance for boarding students from ₦150 to ₦250 per day.ln his speech state coordinator of AGILE, Mustapha Shehu warned against mismanagement of the fund.

Shehu said the fund will be used for renovation of schools, provision of teaching and learning materials as well as sporting facilities.

He said AGILE has introduced entrepreneurship in secondary schools for students self-reliant after graduation.
