The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that it has resolved about 70 to 80 percent of disagreements arising from the party’s recent primaries, declaring that it is fully prepared for the 2027 general elections.

The State Chairman of the party, Hamza Alhaji Bello Madagali, made this known during a State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held at the party secretariat in Yola.

Madagali expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the party’s primaries for the State Assembly, National Assembly, governorship, and presidential elections.

He commended party leaders, members, and security agencies for ensuring peaceful exercises throughout the primaries.

He also appreciated the Adamawa State Government for providing a conducive atmosphere that allowed political parties to freely conduct their activities.

According to him, “We thank Almighty Allah for making all our selections successful and peaceful.

“Today, we have gathered to appreciate ourselves, our leaders, and everyone who contributed to the smooth conduct of the primaries.”

The chairman acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable in politics, especially during competitive primaries, but noted that most aspirants had pledged to remain loyal to the party despite the outcome of the contests.

He stressed that the APC leadership was already treating the 2027 general election as an immediate task.

“Some people think the election is still far away, but for us in APC, we are looking at it as if it is just two weeks away,” he said.

Madagali explained that the SWC meeting was convened to design programmes and strategies aimed at reconciliation and strengthening internal cohesion within the party.

He added that the reconciliation efforts were yielding positive results, saying the party had already resolved between 70 and 80 percent of the usual post-primary challenges.

“What remains is for us to sit together and bring everybody on board so that we can face other political parties ahead of the 2027 elections,” he added.

Also speaking, the APC State Secretary, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, described the primaries as one of the most competitive in the party’s history due to the large number of aspirants.

According to him, no fewer than 115 aspirants contested for the party’s 25 State Assembly tickets.

He appealed to unsuccessful aspirants to remain loyal to the party, stressing that losing a ticket should not be seen as rejection.

Ribadu further disclosed that the party successfully produced candidates for all the 25 State Assembly seats, eight House of Representatives seats, and the three senatorial districts in the state.

He also noted an improvement in female participation, as two women emerged as House of Representatives candidates during the primaries.
