Industrialist and Chairman of Oranto Petroleum Ltd., Prince (Engr.) Arthur Eze, OFR, has offered scholarships to 50 undergraduate students of Northwest University Sokoto (NWUS), beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The offer, contained in a letter dated May 8, 2026, states that the scholarship scheme is designed to support brilliant but financially disadvantaged students with the potential to excel academically and contribute meaningfully to society.
According to the letter, the first phase of the programme will cover students enrolled in full-time degree programmes across the various faculties of the university.
The scholarship will cover either tuition fees only or tuition and accommodation, depending on the arrangement approved by the university and the sponsor’s office.
The Group Chairman said beneficiaries would be selected based on academic merit, financial need, and good character.
He added that the scholarship would continue throughout the duration of each beneficiary’s degree programme, provided they maintain good academic standing and exemplary conduct.
The businessman urged the university’s scholarship committee to recommend qualified candidates, assuring that his office would work closely with the institution to finalise the selection process and disbursement of the awards.
He described the partnership as part of his commitment to developing Nigeria’s next generation of leaders and professionals.
In the letter, Prince Eze also expressed deep respect for the founder of the university, Distinguished Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, CON, PhD, commending his immense contributions to the advancement of education in Nigeria.
“I wish to express my deep respect for the Founder of the University, Distinguished Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, CON, PhD.
“His tireless contributions to the advancement of education in Nigeria have opened doors for countless young people and strengthened the nation’s future.
“It is a privilege to support and build upon the foundation he has laid,” he said.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Sokoto, Professor Mukhtar Umar Bunza, expressed profound appreciation to Prince Arthur Eze for the generous gesture.
He described the scholarship as a timely and transformative intervention that would ease the financial burden on deserving students and expand access to quality higher education.
“With gratitude, we assure the Group Chairman of Oranto Petroleum Ltd. of the university’s commitment to ensuring that the scholarship is judiciously awarded only to deserving students, in line with the conditions stated in the offer letter,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
