Suspected bandits have killed the Deputy Dean Faculty of Agriculture of Federal University Dutsinma, Dr Tiri Gyang.

The Triumph gathered that the bandits also abducted two children of the deceased.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Armaya’u Bichi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

Bichi said the bandits also abducted a student and her child.

He said the incident happened around 2 am on Monday(yesterday)
inside the university staff quarter.

He described the attack and abduction as shocking despite the deployment of security personnel.

“We deployed enough security personnel, we provided them with vehicles and fuel to protect against attack by bandits,” Bichi said.

According to him, lack of coordination among security is a source of concern for the management of the university.

He assured that the university will continue to work with security to secure the university from any further attack.

In his reaction, the Public relations officer of Katsina Command, ASP Abubakar Sadig said the command had dispatched a team to rescue the abducted children and the students.

It would be recalled that the university located along the Kankara axis has for years faced insecurity problems.

It was gathered last two years five students of the university were abducted by bandits and later released after payment of ransom.

The Triumph reported that the insecurity problem facing the university forced the closure of its permanent site.
