The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN), has flagged off the distribution of 10 trucks of assorted fertiliser to farmers and party members across the state.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony at the APC State Secretariat in Bauchi, Abubakar said each truck carries 600 bags of fertiliser, bringing the total to 6,000 bags for distribution.

He explained that the fertiliser would be distributed through party leaders, local government APC chairmen, ward chairmen, and other party structures to reach beneficiaries across the state’s 323 electoral wards and polling units.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at supporting APC members engaged in farming and assisting small-scale farmers to boost food production during the 2026 farming season.

Abubakar noted that agriculture remains the backbone of Bauchi State’s economy, with more than 70 per cent of the population relying on farming for their livelihoods.

He said the support would help farmers maximise the current planting season and improve agricultural productivity.

The APC governorship candidate added that the fertiliser was provided through the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation and the Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar/Farouk Mustapha Campaign Organisation as part of efforts to strengthen food security and support grassroots farmers.

Also speaking, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, urged those responsible for distributing the fertiliser to ensure the exercise is carried out fairly, transparently, and reaches the intended beneficiaries.

Dogara commended Abubakar for facilitating the agricultural support, describing the initiative as a demonstration of his commitment to improving the welfare of APC members and farmers across Bauchi State.

Delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, the APC Chairman of Katagum Local Government Area, Alhaji Sani Bala, expressed appreciation to the party’s governorship candidate and other APC leaders for the intervention.

He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued commitment to the development of Bauchi State.

Bala further commended the leadership of the APC in the state and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, for attracting support and development opportunities to party members in Bauchi State.
