Cross River State Governor, Bassey Edet Otu, has declared that the state is entering a new era of restoration, economic recovery and renewed opportunities following the successful recovery of several strategic state investments and assets previously considered lost.

Governor Otu made the declaration during the quarterly Solemn Assembly held in Calabar, where political leaders, clerics and residents gathered to pray for the peace, unity and prosperity of Cross River State.

Conveying the goodwill of the First Lady, Bishop Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the governor commended religious leaders for sustaining the vision of the Solemn Assembly, describing it as a platform for seeking divine guidance and blessings for the state.

Reflecting on his administration’s journey, Governor Otu said Cross River had moved from a period of uncertainty to one of renewed hope, with opportunities that were once beyond reach now becoming a reality.

“If we want to list what God has done for Cross River State, that page cannot contain it,” the governor said.

He noted that the state was witnessing restoration across several sectors, particularly through the recovery of strategic investments and public assets that many Cross Riverians had believed were permanently lost.

Governor Otu cited the revival of the Cross River Rubber Estate and the recovery of other key assets as evidence of his administration’s determination to rebuild the state’s economic foundation.

According to him, the recovered assets will be utilised to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities and establish a sustainable foundation for future generations.

The governor assured residents that his administration remains committed to delivering measurable results, improving the welfare of citizens and expanding opportunities for sustainable development.

“We want results on the ground. Let the lives of our people be better, let them be safe, and let there be hope, love and unity. Then progress is guaranteed,” he stated.

Governor Otu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to effective service delivery, stressing that political distractions would not derail his government’s mandate.

Earlier, Bishop Mrs. Offon Archibong Archibong, while delivering a sermon titled The Season of God’s Reign, described the gathering as a prophetic moment for Cross River State.

Drawing inspiration from Joel 2:25–27, she declared that God would restore all that had been lost, preserve His people from shame and usher the state into a season of glory, abundance and lasting satisfaction.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Apostle Frank Umo, said the quarterly Solemn Assembly, initiated by the First Lady, was designed to seek God’s blessings, guidance and protection for Cross River State.

He urged participants to remain steadfast in prayer for peace, unity and the continued progress of the state.

The assembly featured prayers, worship sessions and exhortations, with participants expressing gratitude for what they described as the growing transformation and renewed hope across Cross River State.
