The Cross River State Police Command has confirmed that the previously reported lost-and-found items recovered in Calabar have been successfully returned to their rightful owner.

Recall that earlier reports indicated that a good Samaritan driver had submitted some forgotten valuables found in a mini bus to a radio station in Calabar before the matter was reported to the police.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpe Akata, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, the police said the owner had now claimed the items after proper verification.

“The Command wishes to inform the public that the previously reported lost-and-found items have been successfully claimed by the rightful owner after due verification, and the items have been released accordingly,” the statement said.

The Command commended the honesty and cooperation of the transporter and Hit FM for their role in ensuring the safe recovery and return of the property.

The police also encouraged members of the public to continue to demonstrate honesty and responsibility whenever they come across lost items.
