The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State has elected former member of the House of Representatives, Hamisu Gambo Danlawan, as its candidate for the Katsina Central Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Danlawan emerged unopposed after other aspirants reportedly withdrew from the contest.
Speaking while presenting Danlawan to party supporters, Yakubu Lado Danmarke commended the peaceful conduct of the election and described the candidate as a loyal party member, gentleman and grassroots politician.
Danmarke recalled that Danlawan, during his tenure as a member of the House of Representatives representing Katsina Local Government Area, performed creditably and earned the confidence of his constituents.
He expressed optimism that, if elected senator, Danlawan would not betray the trust of the people, adding that his leadership would attract meaningful development to Katsina Central Senatorial District.
Earlier in his remarks, the state chairman of the PDP, Nura Amadi Kurfi, said the party remains strong and widely accepted by Nigerians due to its performance during its 16 years in power.
Amadi expressed confidence that the PDP would win the 2027 presidential election and also clinch the Katsina State governorship seat.
He commended the large turnout of party members during the election and urged them to embark on house-to-house campaigns to enlighten the public on the party’s manifesto.
Responding, Danlawan expressed appreciation to the party for giving him the opportunity to contest and pledged not to disappoint members and supporters of the party.
He also thanked the other contestants for their support and cooperation.
