The Development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) in Kano and Jigawa states.
This initiative aims to address socio-economic disparities and provide equal opportunities for disadvantaged children.
Hajiya Aisha Bello, the Gender-Based Officer at dRPC, emphasized the importance of ECCD innovation for comprehensive community development. She made this statement during the presentation of educational materials to ECCD centers at the Murtala Muhammad Library.
ECCD programs offer a range of benefits. They help parents balance work and family responsibilities, boosting productivity and economic participation. Moreover, Community-Based Initiatives engage local communities in ECCD efforts, ensuring cultural relevance and sustainability.
However, challenges persist. The Chairman of the Jigawa State Universal Primary Education Board highlighted issues such as inadequate infrastructure, poor facility maintenance, and a shortage of skilled staff. The lack of sufficient training further hampers the delivery of high-quality ECCD services.
Despite these obstacles, dRPC has made notable progress. Twenty ECCD centers in Jigawa and Kano states have received educational materials from the organization. This initiative underscores dRPC’s ongoing commitment to advancing ECCD in Northern Nigeria.
