The Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Karaye Emirate to supporting initiatives aimed at improving access to quality basic education in the area.
The Emir made the commitment when a delegation from the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) paid a thank-you visit to his palace in appreciation of his support and contribution to the successful conduct of the 2026 School Enrolment Drive campaign in Karaye.
Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz said the Emirate believed that education remained one of the most effective means of addressing societal challenges, particularly those related to economic development, security and political stability.
He assured the delegation that the Emirate would continue to support educational programmes introduced by SUBEB and other relevant stakeholders, especially initiatives requiring the support and mobilisation of traditional institutions.
The Emir also expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and reiterated his readiness to work with the Board to promote access to quality basic education across the Karaye Emirate.
Presenting a letter of appreciation to the Emir on behalf of the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Malam Yusuf Kabir, the Board Secretary, Hajiya Amina Umar, said the delegation was at the palace to formally acknowledge the Emir’s valuable support and contribution to the success of the 2026 School Enrolment Drive in Karaye.
Hajiya Amina said the Board would document the success recorded during the campaign, particularly the Emir’s decision to host the programme at his palace and his directive for district heads, village heads and other community members to participate in the mobilisation exercise.
She also appreciated all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the campaign, noting that the achievement was the result of the collective efforts of traditional institutions, local government authorities, community leaders and other partners.
The Board Secretary commended the people of Karaye for their support and urged them to sustain the momentum by encouraging parents and guardians to enrol their children and wards in school and ensure their continued attendance.
In a related development, the SUBEB delegation paid a similar courtesy visit to the Chairman of Karaye Local Government Area, Hon. Safiyanu Haruna, where a letter of appreciation was presented to him for his support towards the 2026 School Enrolment Drive.
The visits formed part of the Board’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions, local government authorities and communities in advancing basic education and improving school enrolment across Kano State.
