As protests began nationwide, there was a low turnout of protesters in Katsina State.

Our correspondent reported that only a handful of protesters under different NGOs took over the streets carrying flashcards with inscriptions “We are not slaves”Economic hardship is high” Reduce the high cost of governance ”and many others.

The protesters gathered at the Emir’s palace for some hours and later dispersed. It was gathered that members of the Civil Society Organisation (CSO) and Organised labour did not participate in the protest.

Youth under the aegis of Struggle For Good Governance have protested the lingering economic hardship, insecurity and poor governance.

The youth was led by Comrade Habibu Rumah in a peaceful protest tagged “We are hungry and We need security to be restored.”

Rumah told newsmen that Nigerians are not happy with the policies of President Tinubu’s administration, saying the government must listen and respond to their demands.

“We will continue with peaceful protest until the government listing and respond to our demands,” he said.
