From Musa Muhammad Kutama, Calabar

The Forum of Special Advisers in Cross River State has presented a comprehensive account of the achievements recorded by Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s administration after 1,080 days in office.

The details were unveiled on Monday during the three-year Administration Milestones Sectoral Briefing held in Calabar.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Forum and Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, said the briefing formed part of the administration’s deliberate efforts to keep the public informed about its activities and achievements since assuming office.

“The administration considers transparency and accountability essential components of governance.

“This briefing is intended to provide citizens with factual information on projects, programmes, and the progress achieved across various sectors,” Akiba stated.

He explained that the government’s accomplishments are multi-dimensional, covering infrastructure, education, public administration, resource management, and other critical sectors.

According to him, many of the completed projects are already operational and delivering tangible benefits to residents across the state.

Presenting the administration’s infrastructure achievements, the Special Adviser on Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Raphael Murphy, highlighted extensive road construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects spanning hundreds of kilometres across the Southern, Central, and Northern Senatorial Districts.

Among the major projects listed was the ongoing development of the Obudu International Cargo Airport, where critical navigational equipment has already been installed, with only a few structural components remaining before full operations commence.

Murphy further disclosed that several access roads, community concrete roads, and road networks within security formations and the Calabar metropolis have been constructed and rehabilitated.

He noted that the projects cut across several local government areas, including Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Odukpani, Akamkpa, Ikom, Yakurr, Obubra, Ogoja, and Obanliku.

He also revealed that the administration has invested heavily in the renovation of key public institutions, including the State Library Complex, the Local Government Service Commission headquarters, legislative residences, and the Governor’s Office.

On human capital development and fiscal responsibility, officials highlighted achievements in the education sector, including the completion of 49 primary school projects, alongside ongoing collaborative interventions with the Federal Government aimed at improving learning environments across the state.

Speaking on asset recovery and revenue generation, the Special Adviser on Assets Management and Recovery, Gilbert Agbor, outlined reforms designed to recover government assets, block financial leakages, and strengthen accountability in public service.

“This administration’s major focus is sustainable development, improved service delivery, and long-term economic growth for the people of Cross River State,” Agbor said.

Other officials who presented scorecards and commended the administration’s performance included Hon. Peter Egba, Special Adviser on Industry; Nkoyo Otu, Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs; and Hon. Ada Charles Egwu, Special Adviser on Community Relations.

The forum concluded by reaffirming the Otu administration’s commitment to sustainable economic growth, improved service delivery, and enhanced living standards for all residents of Cross River State.
